Suffering from a skin condition can be frustrating. It may seem logical that treating yourself to a facial will help to alleviate the symptoms. However that is not always the case. Anyone with a skin condition should approach facials cautiously. Before you schedule an appointment with your local esthetician, consider the following possible issues.

Acne

Although you can get a facial when you have acne, it is not necessarily a good idea to do so. The exception to this rule is if you are getting a facial the includes an extraction treatment. Otherwise, it is better to wait until your face has cleared of blemishes before you get your facial. Facials that are meant to be a pampering service often use essential oils that may further clog your pores and make your acne worse. Facials that include exfoliating services such as microdermabrasion can be too aggressive and also irritate your acne.

Eczema

Treating skin that is plagued with eczema can be extremely frustrating. Anyone who suffers from eczema can attest to the fact that treating it can be extremely frustrating. It might seem that treating yourself to a facial might be the perfect solution. However, that is likely not the case. When you are having a flare-up of eczema, your skin needs massive amounts of hydration. But, that’s not the only remedy. It is best to stay away from skin products that have any type of fragrance, as that can be irritating to the skin. So unless you are 150% sure that the spa uses only fragrance free products, you probably want to avoid it. Also, any type of exfoliation process that might be involved with a facial might be too harsh for your skin. So, if you have eczema, it’s best to skip the facial.

Rosacea

Although you can get a facial if you have rosacea, you need to be careful about doing so. Your first step is to find a licensed esthetician who is knowledgeable about rosacea and has experience working with people who have it. You must also be proactive and be upfront about any products that you know irritate your skin so your esthetician can avoid using them. Many people with rosacea notice that heat makes the condition flare up, so avoid any facial treatments that involve steam or hot towels. Exfoliation treatments can also cause rosacea flare-ups, so these should be avoided as well. So, if you are okay with the limitations in the treatments, you can get a facial with rosacea.

Everyone wants to have a blemish-free and healthy-feeling face. For some people the road to get there is through a facial. However, that is not the best solution for everyone. Those who suffer from common skin conditions should think twice and approach the idea with caution.

Having a diet rich in antioxidants, will protect new cells and repair what is damaged. They are also full of Vitamin C, which is not made by the body, and without out this essential supplement, the body cannot produce new skin cells. If you smile a lot, you will see some lines along each side of your mouth. If you spend much of your time outdoors, you may have some lines around your eyes from squinting in the sunlight. Definitely, a smoker will have a collection of fine lines all around the mouth. And, for the people that wear their heart on their face, you probably see fine lines everywhere. These are the lines that represent your life: your story.

Fine lines and wrinkles can show up at any age: they are not just for older mature skin. Advanced signs of aging are noted by cross-like lines all over the cheek area. Genetics play the heaviest role in the aging process but environmental factors, stress, and an inadequate diet all play a role in how your body ages.

But how do you determine the amount of damage on your skin? Raise your arm and compare your facial skin with the skin on the underneath of your arm. The skin located under the arm is barley exposed to the elements so it is good healthy skin.
