Drink plain, filtered water.

When it is hot outside, you can often get dehydrated, leading to dizzy spells, headaches, and dryer skin. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated; not necessarily eight glasses a day, but about four glasses in order to maintain the balance of moisture in the skin and body. Water also helps in detoxifying the body. Try to avoid caffeinated beverages as much as possible, as they can dehydrate you and you will need even more water.

Apply sunscreen in the right ways.

Many people seem to assume that one application of sunscreen is good enough to stay protected from the sun throughout the day. In actuality, this sunscreen will wear off in just a couple of hours before you need more. If you spend time outside throughout the whole day, apply sunscreen every two hours.

For the face, a teaspoon is a good amount. For the rest of the body, apply as much as would fill a shot glass.

We also recommend staying out of the sun from mid morning to late afternoon, as these are the brightest and hottest times of day. In this case, sunscreen may not be as effective.
